About the Webinar

COVID-19 is not the only pandemic facing our world today. Speeding on Minnesota roadways is killing members of our community at an alarming rate. This webinar explored public perceptions around speed and discussed current efforts to slow down drivers to help curb these dangerous behaviors.

Mark Vizecky
Nichole Morris

Nichole Morris is the director of the HumanFIRST Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, a research scholar at the Center for Transportation Studies, and a graduate faculty member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics program at the University of Minnesota. Her research interests include human factors, safety, gender disparities, judgment and decision-making, and human–systems interactions.

Mark Vizecky is just one of the many smiling faces in MnDOT's State Aid Division. He has worked in State Aid since 2007, covering a variety of areas from traffic safety and disaster recovery to roadway standards and jurisdictional realignments. Vizecky is currently the State Aid operations engineer and project manager for the Statewide Speed Limit Vision project. Previously, he worked for the City of Moorhead and the North Dakota DOT.

Jessica Schleck

Jessica Schleck is the Southeast Minnesota TZD regional coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. She began working with the Minnesota TZD program as a Safe Roads coordinator for Dodge County in 2008. She was hired as the Southeast TZD regional coordinator in 2013 and has since built, coordinated, and supported coalitions across the region. She has been teaching Responsible Beverage Server Training to regional liquor establishments since 2013 and was a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician for more than 10 years. Recently, she coordinated the first-ever cross-border MN/WI motorcycle Flood Run media event. The success of this event has led to four cross-border motorcycle news releases and strong partnerships with WisDOT and the Wisconsin State Patrol. Prior to COVID, she had planned, organized, and hosted more than 50 media events across the region.

Attendees are eligible for 1.0 POST credit, 1.25 Professional Development Hours (PDHs), and 1.25 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits.
