About the Scholarships
TZD stakeholders who work in the state of Minnesota are eligible to apply for a scholarship to facilitate their in-person attendance at the 2024 TZD Statewide Conference. The event will be held October 22–23, 2024, at the River's Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud, MN.
Scholarship preference will be given to individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria: demonstrate a need for financial assistance, have not attended a TZD Statewide Conference in the past, are active in TZD in their region, or can apply learnings from the conference to their traffic safety work.
All scholarship recipients will be eligible for the following:
- Registration: The $150 in-person conference registration fee, which includes all conference materials, breakfasts, lunch, breaks, and a reception.
- Hotel: One hotel sleeping room will be provided for two nights (October 21 and 22) at one of the conference hotels if the recipient works more than 65 miles from the St. Cloud River's Edge Convention Center.
Note that all other travel expenses are not eligible expenses and must be paid by the individual attendee or their employer.
How to Apply
The online application form will open on August 1, 2024. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis as long as space remains available. The final deadline to apply is August 22, 2024.
As part of your application, you will be asked to provide brief answers to the following questions:
- How will a complimentary conference registration and hotel enable you to attend the TZD Statewide Conference?
- How will your attendance benefit you and your organization, and how will you apply learnings to the conference in your traffic safety work?
- How have you been involved in TZD in your region? Please describe any committees you have participated in, outreach events, TZD workshops or conferences you have attended, etc.
If your application is accepted, you will be notified by August 23.
Cancellations
If you receive a scholarship and are unable to attend the conference, please notify Jackson Piper as soon as possible at piper129@umn.edu. If we are not notified at all or after the date the hotel will accept cancellations, you may be responsible for your conference costs (registration and hotel).
